The Learners will be creating a value still life composition of pumpkins using charcoal. Learners will draw the shapes of an organic pumpkin and arrange them in various ways on a table. They will explore the value of light and dark with the curved shape of pumpkins. Before we start I will be introducing them to a few artist that have created still life. We will have discussions on works by M.C. Escher, Giorgio Morandi and Paul Gaugin. I Demonstrate and we will discuss where their light...

Charcoal stick (Black) and charcoal pencil Vine charcoal Pencil 12" x18" white drawing paper (a couple sheets) or large sketch book newsprint paper (a couple sheets) one sheet paper towel kneaded eraser or regular eraser *You can get a charcoal set at Amazon. They have the Amazon's Choice for "Charcoal for drawing" at $7.13 for the 1 pack and Amazon Choice for Faber-Castell kneaded Eraser with case for $3.28 * Michaels craft store also has a charcoal set for $5.99 (it does not come with vine charcoal).
