Hey there, cartoonist! I’m Kim — and if you love funny drawings, comics, or dreaming up characters, this class is made for you. Each week, we’ll dive into the exciting world of cartoons and comics. You’ll learn step-by-step how to draw expressive characters, design comic panels, and tell short, funny stories through pictures. Whether you’re new to drawing or already love making your own characters, you’ll build skills and create a collection of awesome comic strips to share. Every session includes: • A quick warm-up doodle to get ideas flowing • A step-by-step lesson on a new cartoon or comic skill • Creative time to make your own comic drawing • Optional share and feedback time at the end You’ll learn how to: • Design fun cartoon characters full of personality • Draw expressive faces, body language, and action • Arrange comic panels and add dialogue bubbles • Tell short, funny stories with your drawings • Build confidence and develop your own comic style Join us weekly and bring your imagination to life — one cartoon at a time! • Weekly Skill Rotation: (Each class stands alone — students can join any time! This cycle repeats with new prompts and themes.) • Week of 05/04: Cartoon Faces & Expressions Learn to draw simple cartoon heads with different emotions. • Week of 05/11: Character Design Basics Create fun characters with costumes, props, and personality. • Week of 05/18: Action Poses & Movement Make your characters run, jump, and show action in your comics. • Week of 05/25: Comic Panels & Layouts Learn how to arrange drawings into comic strips with clear flow. • Week of 06/01: Dialogue Bubbles & Storytelling Add speech bubbles, sound effects, and mini-stories to your comics. • Week of 06/08: Create Your Own Mini Comic Plan, sketch, and draw a short comic featuring your original characters! • Week of 06/15: Comic Jam! Collaborative Storytelling Team up to create a silly group comic, adding twists and turns together. • Week of 06/22: Final Comic Showcase Refine and share your best comic strip — plus, celebrate your creativity!

For this class, students will need:
• Sketching Pencil – A standard No. 2 pencil works great, or a set of sketch pencils if you have them
• Paper or Sketchpad – Preferably around 8x10 inches
• Eraser – Any clean eraser is fine
• Pencil Sharpener
Optional:
