Then, they will learn to: - form a claim - find evidence to back the claim - learn about connotation and analysis to explain their evidence - write a conclusion and revise for better word choices and transition words. Students will start off with a writing prompt based on the poem and share ideas, then I will teach a part of a reading response paragraph each meeting, using an example. They will then work on that part of the paragraph and share their ideas. If there is time, we may cover two poems and two reading response paragraphs; however, I want to give students enough time to learn, think about, discuss and write the first paragraph. They can then apply what they learned in this camp to other reading response paragraphs.
Learning Goals
Students will learn how to write a reading response paragraph with a claim, evidence, analysis and a conclusion.
