This workshop is open-ended, relaxing, and fun. Kids with all levels of confidence in their art enjoy this work. We will bring our older, drier markers back to life with a little water, and experiment with blending color using free flowing "brush-strokes." Then, we'll go back into our abstract work with gel pens to pull out interesting shapes and embellish our pieces with pattern. We'll also discuss what Artist Trading Cards are, where they came from, and how kids of all ages can become...
Students will learn: -to relax and enjoy open-ended, free flowing abstract marker painting. -to observe how colors interact and blend. -about the artist trading cards, traditional A.T.C. practices, and their history. -how to title, label, and curate their A.T.C.'s
I've been teaching art in many settings for over 25 years, and am a National Board Certified art teacher. I have been creating and trading Artist Trading Cards for 15 years, and I love using them in the classroom. I have 2 Masters degrees in Education; 1 in leadership, and 1 in Reading, and I am a certified reading specialist. I use my knowledge of language development in all the instruction I deliver.
This class is appropriate for a wide range of students, including those with neurodiverse brains. I support all learners by observing and meeting their needs informed by decades of experience as an educator of typical and neurodiverse kids.
