수업 소개

Welcome.. I'm so glad you are interested in meeting me, and I'm excited to meet you and the learner. Are you considering enrolling your child in one of my classes but want to learn more first? This opportunity is by request only. In this one-time parent-teacher discussion, we will connect to discuss your child’s learning needs, interests, and goals. This session is a great opportunity to ask questions about my teaching style, class structure, and how I can support your child’s educational journey.

Whether your child is new to the subject, needs extra support, or wants an academic challenge, I’m happy to provide insights and recommendations. I look forward to meeting you and helping your child thrive in my classes!

Class Experience and Class Availability Times

This class is a one time trial class to help the parent and teacher understand expectations and the placement for the student. At this time, parents will be able to decide on what subscription plan they would like to use.

Although this class is a one time lesson, the learner and parent will find that this course is structured and will grow with the student's needs. This class is for English as a Second Language students ages 7-12. Each class will be 25 minutes long and is a customized, structured course for each student's needs by using interactive slides and/or working on phonics sounds and vocabulary words with structured curriculum workbooks and applications. As well, we will be focusing on reading, writing, and grammar skills, and will learn to create full sentence phrases. The teacher will introduce phonics by using flash cards or a whiteboard, and will have the student repeat several times. We will also practice spelling skills. The teacher will use TPR as much as possible to help enforce learning and the student will be encouraged to copy back. This will be taught by the I do, we do, you do method. The teacher will make corrections when a student makes a mistake. There will be role play in some lessons to help enforce sentences and general responses. If the student struggles, then we will review until the material is mastered. When a student shows strong skills, the teacher will do extended questions and expand the material.

During the first lesson, the teacher will perform a placement test for all new students. Please contact the tutor to explain the current level of English of your child or your child's English skills. We will be using a variety of resources and curriculum. For younger students, we will have a placement test for phonics and reading. The teacher will be using an interactive program for younger learners, such a Splashlearn or Lalilo, that will help determine their level in phonics and reading skills. We will then have a variety of easy level classes for reading and comprehension using a variety of workbooks. If the student is in need of working on more material outside of class. The teacher will assign homework on Splashlearn and Lalilo. Please know that you will have a create logins to access assignments, but doing these projects and assigned assignments will help enforce learning. Currently, courses will be for beginner and intermediate levels ONLY. Soon, other lessons will be offered to help older students with more advanced skills to practice and focus on free talk conversations, reading, and everyday life skills. For older students we will use Duolingo Classroom for homework and practice. Again, please note that the parent will have a create a log in for this service to access assignments. Lastly, there will be feedback provides after every class via the conversations tab and the classroom board.

COMING SOON: For advanced readers in English, the student will be assessed with a placement exam during the first lesson together. Then the teacher will conduct an interactive and static slide lesson. We will also have options for free conversation about a variety of topics, including daily life and news stories. This will help with the improvement of reading and writing skills. We may discuss and assign homework. Feel free to reach out to the teacher if you have any questions.

Teacher Rules:

Although parents are welcomed as a support and encouragement in class, remember that the student must be the one to answer the teacher audibly. The parent(s) should never be visible on camera, especially in a group class. If there are distractions or technical issues, class may be stopped, as the student will not be effectively learning. There will be no refund for these issues. Additionally, if a student is 10 minutes late, class will be canceled and there will be no refund. However, the teacher may give the student a discount, if the parent reaches out, for a future class and a scheduling issue.

Students should make sure you they are paying attention to the teacher and repeating the teacher when possible. Make sure there are no distractions. Please do not wear hats or distracting clothing in class, as this can not only be distracting to the teacher, but also other students. Make sure that students remain polite and do not use foul language or chew gum in class.

If a student or family member has an emergency or does not believe they can make it to class at their scheduled time, please notify the teacher within 12 hours of class start time. You may then reschedule or cancel class. Under 12 hours before class, please note that the teacher will have to charge for class and there will be no refund. Outschool will be helpful with this situation, as well as the teacher, so feel free to reach out.

I hope that you will enjoy our class together and join this English Learning Adventure. See you soon in the classroom.

Meeting Topics May Include:
✅ Your child’s strengths, challenges, and learning preferences
✅ Class recommendations based on your child’s needs
✅ Teaching style, curriculum discussion, and approaches
✅ Scheduling and availability questions

Things to Keep in Mind:

It Cannot Be a Standalone Service: Parent meetings should be positioned as a way to discuss class enrollment and teaching approaches, not as an ongoing consultation service.

No Private Coaching for Parents: Outschool classes must focus on learners, not parents. This means the session should be framed as a way to help parents choose the best class for their child, rather than as a coaching or training session for parents themselves.

Bookings Must Go Through Outschool: All scheduling and communication must stay on the platform, and payments must go through Outschool rather than external invoicing.

Follow the “Class Experience” Model: Since Outschool listings are meant to be learner-focused, some teachers create a “Trial Class” for learners with an optional parent Q&A at the end rather than a meeting just for parents. If you want to ensure full compliance, you could format it that way.
