In this 4-meeting summer book and movie club, learners will explore Holes by Louis Sachar and then compare it to the 2003 movie adaptation. This isn’t a boring book report—it’s an interactive, discussion-based class that helps all readers (including reluctant ones!) engage with story structure, characters, and themes in a fun and relaxed summer setting ☀️. Each session is structured to build confidence and spark curiosity 🕵️♀️. We’ll start by diving into the early chapters and getting to know Camp Green Lake, Stanley, and the other boys. As we move through the book, learners will uncover hidden connections between the past and present, explore key themes like justice and friendship, and wrap up with a high-energy book vs. movie debate in our final class 🎬. This class is perfect for learners who enjoy storytelling, discussion, and thinking critically about how books and movies bring stories to life in different ways. This is a fully discussion-based class with interactive slides, open-ended prompts, and optional creative thinking questions. Learners are encouraged to share their thoughts and discoveries in a supportive, judgment-free environment 🌈. No written homework or quizzes—just great conversation and connection! I bring energy, structure, and a love of storytelling to every session, and I work hard to make sure all students feel included—whether they’re lifelong readers or just starting to enjoy books.
