This is an English Reading Book Club for students who are developing their love of reading, writing, thinking and sharing their ideas. This class is aimed at beginner readers to broaden their vocabulary, improve recognition of words, develop phonics and handwriting too. Learners will develop their reading fluency, comprehension skills including knowledge of phonics, vocabulary, guessing meaning of words from context, sharing ideas and developing communication skills. Which books will be covered? πΉ Week Beginning 15/7/2024 - Lord of the Fleas πΉ Week Beginning 22/7/2024 - Brawl of the Wild πΉ Week Beginning 29/7/2024 - For Whom the Ball Rolls πΉ Week Beginning 5/8/2024 - Fetch-22 πΉ Week Beginning 12/8/2024 - Grime and Punishment πΉ Week Beginning 19/8/2024 - Mothering Heights πΉ Week Beginning 26/8/2024 - 20 Thousand Fleas Under the Sea πΉ Week Beginning 2/9/2024 - Dog Man πΉ Week Beginning 9/9/2024 - Dog Man Unleashed πΉ Week Beginning 16/9/2024 - A Tale of Two Kitties πΉ Week Beginning 23/9/2024 - Dog Man and Cat Kid Dog Man books can be read in any order so learners can join at any point. When we get to the end of the cycle, we will return to the beginning. Each week will include vocabulary, comprehension and input. Learners will be encouraged to share their ideas in a variety of ways in class. There will be interactive activities connected with each book each week. Please do contact us with any questions. Parental Guidance
Please note, this is an English language class. This is not a 'read along' class. Our own teaching materials are used to teach learners during this course. The focus of the classes is to develop language including, phonics, vocabulary, grammar, comprehension, fluency and writing skills.
Supply List
The books are required for this class. Students may use e-books, hardcopy and paperbacks, or audiobooks to read and comprehend the text. Learners will also need a notebook, pencil and crayons for each class.
