*The student will work on developing comprehension skills by reading assigned texts, making predictions, making personal connections, and generate questions before, during and after reading.

*The student will be able to describe the main character’s traits.
*The student will develop an understanding of the importance of the setting.
*The student will be able to describe and understand plot elements, including main events, the conflict, and the resolution.
*The student will be able to discuss the author’s purpose for writing the text.

I am an experienced elementary teacher and reading specialist. Reading is my passion and I love inspiring reading in the younger child!

Prior to each meeting of the ‘Circle of Friends’ book club, the girls will be given the chapters to read ahead of the meeting for that week. 
*A worksheet will be available to complete after reading each part of the book which works out to two classes a month for each book.

The assessment will be an informal one done as each class discussion occurs.
