In this 8-week flexible schedule course, students will learn the fundamentals of playing the recorder. Each week, students will be prompted to watch one or two videos that Teacher Janelle has created to teach the lesson concepts and song for the week. Students will then be prompted to submit a video of themselves performing the song of the week, as well as a brief written/discussion prompt. Teacher Janelle will provide feedback on student work in the form of written and/or video responses. By...
- Students will be able to consistently display proper playing posture, embouchure, tone, fingerings, and hand positions on the recorder - Students will be able to consistently and accurately perform the notes E, G, A, B, C, and D on the recorder - Students will be able to recognize and perform three rhythm durations (eighth notes, quarter notes, and half notes) as well as the notes E, G, A, B, C, and D on the written music staff - Students will listen to and make observations about a professional recorder performance - Students will be able to assess and provide feedback on their own performances and the performances of their peers

After watching the weekly lesson videos, students will be expected to submit a short video recording and a brief written assignment each week. It is recommended that students practice the recorder about 10-15 minutes at least 4 days each week.
