- Students will learn proper hand positioning, note names, and learn to identify notes on the keyboard/piano. They will receive a simple and engaging introduction to the piano and it’s make-up (black and white keys), high and low sounds, note names (systematic way of learning note names). - We will cover the following topics (technique, sight singing, note naming, rhythmic counting and progress to learning to perform music. - My class is structured so that students meet weekly for a 25-minute lesson. Assignments are taught from the Faber Piano Adventures Series, and students will receive assignments weekly, designed to allow them practice of newly learned skills. - My teaching style is fun and engaging, in an interactive session that invites students to play games, earn rewards, and receive encouragement as they master each skill learned. I make our sessions fun by providing a variety of activities to keep children interested, and focus on each topic for only 10 minutes during our 25-minute session. We will cover three different topics during each session (technique, sight reading and performance). - Learners will have the ability to interact with me through the use of games, oral and written activities, and demonstration of their ability to play a selection or practice a newly learned skill.

A printable "What We Learned" sheet will be shared with families after each lesson. I will encourage students to create a digital binder, or a physical binder using the lesson sheets and a 1-1 1/2 - inch binder. I will provide digital access to all resources and materials we will use for lessons. Families are more than welcome to purchase their own physical copies of books and music. We will use Bastien Piano Basics Books (Primer Level). All students should have a keyboard or piano at home to complete the class and properly participate in our live lessons.

I have also been a general music teacher for K-5 classes for 15 years. I have trained children to sing in choirs, and produced several productions for Middle and High School students such as: Suessical the Musical, Lion King Jr., and A Charlie Brown Christmas to name a few!
