Students will develop a strong foundation in fractions by focusing on understanding, comparing, adding, subtracting, and applying fractions in real-life contexts. Each session will introduce key concepts such as numerators and denominators, comparing and ordering fractions, performing operations with like denominators, and using fractions in practical scenarios like money and measurement. The class meets once per week for 45 minutes and follows a structured format that includes a warm-up discussion, a mini-lesson using visual models and real-world connections, guided practice with teacher support, and an interactive activity or game to reinforce learning. Each session ends with a review and reflection to solidify understanding. My teaching style is highly interactive and student-centered, incorporating visual models, number lines, hands-on activities, and engaging discussions to help learners build deep, flexible thinking around fractions. Instead of rote memorization, students will explore concepts through problem-solving, real-world applications, and collaborative learning. This is not a lecture-based class—students will actively participate in discussions, problem-solving exercises, and guided practice with direct feedback to ensure they build confidence and mastery of fractions.
