In this class, students will read an informational text (Cricket Media's Around the World in 1890) about events in the 1890s regarding the construction of the Eiffel Tower. As a bonus, we will also take a virtual field trip to the Eiffel Tower and learn some fun facts about it before reading our story. Learners will discover the main idea of the text and describe it using key details. We will discuss effective strategies for summarizing texts and keys to looking for key details. Students...

I will provide a graphic organizer the day before the class begins to be used during class or to simply add to their reading and writing toolkits.

Students are welcome to enter the Nearpod classroom on their own screen with the link provided via chat at the beginning of class (no account required). However, this is not a requirement as all of the information will be on our shared screen. This is only if they want to follow on their own screen and answer the questions through the Nearpod lesson as we go.
