Students will learn the essential parts of the guitar, basic music theory, how to play introductory scales and 10 or more chords, as well as different exercises on how to improve and practice their guitar skills. 

I have been playing piano for over twenty years now, and guitar for over fifteen years. I practice/play daily myself and I have played in several bands, recorded a full length album, as well as other solo recordings as of late. I have given guitar lessons before in person, for two years and given about eight months of remote lessons through Outschool. I play bass as well as drums so I have a diverse range of knowledge and application when it comes to music. Where this is a beginner class, I am capable of teaching intermediate range, as well as how to sing and play at the same time.

Homework will be to practice each new scale(s)/chord(s) we learn in each lesson, and to engage in drills and exercises to hone and memorize concepts. This must happen in order to actually learn and progress in their skills/knowledge.

Learner progress will be assessed at the beginning of each next lesson, to see if student can demonstrate their practice exercises that were introduced and assigned during the last lesson. Example: Can student play a major scale on each of the six strings?
