In this class, we will learn all about electricity. We will discuss the earliest forms of electricity, including the ancient Egyptians. We will examine Benjamin Franklin's key and kite experiment. Then, we will look at the contributions of Edison and Tesla in the area of electricity. From there, we will dive into how electricity is used in our society. Students will be able to explain advances in the understanding and use of electricity. They will be able to correctly define the different types of currents and conductors. Students will also be able to identify the pieces of a simple electric motor.
I have taught in schools for ten years as both a science and English teacher. I have worked in both private and public schools as well as homeschool co-ops. I also hold a degree in criminal justice with an emphasis on criminology.
Materials needed for the simple motor: One AA battery Copper wire One neodymium battery ( these can be found at Walmart, Target, The Home Depot, or Amazon [https://www.amazon.com/Neodymium-Permanent-Strongest-Magnets-Applied/dp/B00IT2VWOE] Index card colored pencils tape Optionally: Wire cutters
