ASL Alphabet & Name Learning In this one-time class learners will become more familiar with the ASL alphabet as well as learning to fingerspell their name. We will also practice reading and spelling 2-3 letter words. This lesson will start with a warm welcome where everyone can introduce themselves and explain why they are interested in ASL. We will go over all letters of the alphabet A-Z. We will break the alphabet down into 4 parts and pace ourselves as to not get too overwhelmed. As we...
The primary objective is for learners to come away from this experience knowing how to fingerspell their name. The secondary objective is for learners to familiarize themselves with the alphabet. Although the alphabet does not need to be learned all at once, learners will get a better sense and recall of letters. Also through fingerspelling short words and reading short words, learners will be introduced to receptive fingerspelling (seeing & understanding) as well as expressive fingerspelling (signing it themselves accurately).
Graduated from The University of North Carolina at Greensboro, with a Bachelor's of Science in American Sign Language Interpretation. I've tutored in person from 2018-2019, and have taught in person and online from 2019-currently.
