This lesson provides many positive learning outcomes, including color theory, positive communication, as well as critical thinking skills. Creating the 3D color wheel teaches color theory by focusing on the element of color, and by observing how color is used in works of art.  Learners will begin the scavenger hunt by finding objects that represent the primary colors in the spectrum of light (red, yellow, and blue), and then they will find objects that represent the secondary colors in the spectrum of light (orange, green, and purple).  When the secondary colors are placed between the primary colors, the learners will observe how together, all of these colors create the rainbow.  The concluding discussion promotes positive communication, while also supporting other academic subjects such as science and language arts, making this lesson a well-rounded, creative learning experience.
