수업 소개

In this class, the students will learn about textures and go on a Texture Scavenger Hunt.  First, the learners will observe and discuss various textures in our world.  They will also learn the difference between actual texture and visual texture, and how it is utilized in works of art.  Next, they will go on a home scavenger hunt to find objects with various textures.  They will then arrange their found objects under their paper, making a rubbing of the object.  Finally, the learners will engage in a positive discussion, strengthening communication as well as critical thinking skills.  Please provide appropriate supervision for your children.

This lesson provides several positive learning outcomes.   Creating the texture rubbing teaches the elements of art by focusing on the element of texture, and by observing how both actual as well as visual texture are used in works of art.  Other learning outcomes include positive communication and critical thinking skills.  Group discussion during the presentation and activity promotes positive communication, as does sharing the artworks in the concluding discussion.  Additionally, the learners will utilize critical thinking skills by applying, analyzing and synthesizing their prior knowledge and experiences into the class discussion as well as into the artwork they create.  The concluding discussion promotes positive communication, while also supporting other academic subjects such as language arts, making this lesson a well-rounded, creative learning experience.

My name is Kim, and I am a dedicated educator interested in providing an enriching educational experience for your student(s).  I graduated from the University of Georgia with a Master of Education in Early Childhood Education, a Bachelor of Fine Arts in both Art Education and Arts/Crafts (Ceramics), and I hold a Georgia Educator Certificate (T5) in Art (P-12).  I specialize in Art Education but have taught core academic classes as well.  I have over 25 years of experience in public, charter, and private schools, as well as homeschool and online education.  Given my range of experience teaching students of various ages and ability levels, I have a well-rounded view of education.  I pride myself on the ability to adapt to many different learning styles and curricula, making me highly responsive to the individual needs of each child while fostering each child’s physical, social, and intellectual development.  I am versatile enough to suit whatever educational needs you may have in whatever format may be best suited to facilitate your students’ changing needs and goals.

My enthusiasm and passion for education have given me the ability to demonstrate effective classroom management strategies while maintaining a fun and respectful learning environment.  I possess strong organizational and communication skills that allow me to work effectively with students, parents, staff and the community.  I am patient and caring, and I provide a safe, prepared environment in which students can learn in a nurturing and positive manner.
