Students will receive a brief written overview of our tutoring time together, with our verbal plan written down.

This is a 1 on 1 tutoring session for AP Research students. The session will be tailored to the specific concerns of the student in regards to their research, writing, presenting and/or oral defense.

Many students become stuck when they think their project has failed or the results were unexpected. Additionally, students often have concerns about paper length, graphs, presentation, oral defense questions, and where to start (or stop) writing. I am able to help students organize their thoughts and create a plan for addressing areas of concern. I have writing structures to help your student construct a strong written paper and slide templates to help assist them in creating a strong oral defense. Students can expect me to ask them LOTS of questions. At the end of the session you will receive a short summary of topics we discussed and a written version of the oral plan we developed for your student. 

This tutoring session will be focused on your AP Research project and any areas of problems and concern. My expertise will be most helpful in science related research projects that have experiments or in engineering style creation projects. Prior to the session you will receive an email with a list of documents to have on hand or ready to share at the start of our tutoring time. This is essential for making the most of our short 55 minutes. 

My name is Rebecca and I am a certified NJ state teacher. I previously taught AP Seminar and Research and my students yearly scored above state and global averages. Additionally, I have a masters degree in Marine Science and Policy with over 4 years of Microbiology research experience. I am a published science author.

My name is Rebecca and I am a certified NJ state teacher. I previously taught AP Seminar and Research and my students yearly scored above state and global averages. Additionally, I have a masters degree in Marine Science and Policy with over 4 years of Microbiology research experience. I am a published science author. 

I love discussing and encouraging students who are new to research. It can feel overwhelming at the beginning, but as they watch their project unfold and finally see some results there is no excitement that is better than looking at those graphs! I love helping students learn how to communicate more effectively and better present their research to share their story.
