수업 소개

The Legend of Zelda is one of the most popular video game series in the world, with many of the games being considered some of the best of all time. The Zelda games follow Link on many different adventures, where game players encounter different groups of people and their cultures. This course will apply methods from the four fields of anthropology (cultural, physical, archaeology, and linguistics) to explore the Kingdom of Hyrule.

This class is interactive and will cover the basics of each of the four fields of anthropology. Students will leave the course knowing how to apply these methods to learn more about our world and its cultural diversity.

Structure (60 Minute Class):

5 minutes: Introductions and Class Expectations
40-minute: Class discussion of the four fields of anthropology and application activity
10 minutes: “Hero Awakens” activity
5 minute: Class Reflections and conclusions

Classroom Policies:

The classroom will be open 5 to 10 minutes before the course begins. Students are encouraged
to arrive early to get to know each other.

I believe strongly in having open discussions as part of my courses, this naturally leads to
sometimes drifting on to different topics. I hope students understand that making connections
between different subjects is one of the most important aspects of learning and retaining
information.

If you cannot attend the class you signed up for any reason, please let me know and I am more
than happy to transfer your student into any other of my class sections.

If you or a first-time student to Outschool, please feel free to email me any questions you may
have.

Finally, my most important policy, there is no such thing as a bad question! Please come in the
class with an open mind and remember we all learn from each other. I hope to see you in class!
