*As a professional English teacher, I am highly skilled and knowledgeable in the field of creative and descriptive writing. Furthermore, I have been watching anime for well over 15 years which indicates that my knowledge surrounding the themes of anime is extensive too.*

Welcome to the Anime Creative Writing class!

In this on-going class, learners will write a creative piece of writing specifically related to anime. This will often cover anime characters, story lines, plots, sub-plots, world building and more! This could also change from genre to genre too! Therefore, learners could write about shounen, shoujo, isekai, school life, slice of life, romance/comedy and more. Furthermore, this class also provides an opportunity for learners, who enjoy writing and anime to come together, to share their favourite anime as well some of their favourite writing techniques. Therefore, this class is also a friendly social enviornment for learners to socialise and build their social skills too. However, it should be noted that learners are expected to have some knowledge relating to anime - and by knowledge, I don't mean 'academic knowledge' but rather they have watched a few anime before and have a good idea what it's all about (themes, plot lines, powers etc).

In regard to the class itself, it will be structured and centered around the learners creating their own anime. Of course, as the teacher, I will be providing guidance as to the planning aspect of the anime that they will write about. As a new learner joins, they will be spending time planning what characters, plot, setting and genre they want their book/short story to be about. The plan itself is supposed to be a ‘bare bones’ type of plan where the learner is only planning the ‘essentials’ of what is needed to start off their book/short story. The logic of this is that stories tend to chop and change frequently once you begin to write, to the point where they can deviate entirely from the plan. Therefore, a bare bones plan saves a lot of time for the learner in the future. Thereafter, the learner will proceed to write ‘Episode One’ which is capped at between 300-400 words per chapter. The purpose of this is to allow time in the class to provide feedback on the chapter before the learner writes ‘Episode Two’. Through this consistent feedback method, learners, over time, will begin to see improvements in their writing when they compare ‘Episode One’ to ‘Episode Five’, for example. Please note that I will, firstly, be focusing on the learner’s writing technique before I begin providing feedback on their actual story itself. Once I am confident in the learner’s ability to write clearly and coherently, then I will start providing feedback relating to narrative, plot, character development and more.

*Learners are required to use 'Google Docs' to write their anime. This make it easier for me track the feedback part of the class.*

Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns!
