An introduction to the continent of Africa! We will learn all about the diverse people’s, landscapes, animals and history of Africa! The lesson will include: - Some African history e.g. Ancient Egypt, European arrival, African Kingdoms, Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade - A Traditional African story - Learning about the animals of Africa - Learning about all the different people and tribes of Africa - Learning about African cities - Traditional African Music There will be a lot of discussion, especially focused on students comparing what they knew and thought about Africa before the beginning of the class, compared to afterwards. All students will have to opportunity to offer their opinions on the topic, this is how we foster amazing Critical Thinkers, able to handle anything the world throws at them! My teaching style is fun and engaging but with substance, I believe young ones can deal with ideas previously seen as 'complex', if they are exposed in the correct way. My classes are about discussion, so we will be discussing everyone's perspectives and using power point slides! No previous knowledge required! Especially great class for kids who ask a lot on questions, beginning to focus their Critical Thinking Skills in an academic fashion.
