Students will learn how to identify the key characteristics of a variety of writing styles/ genres and purposes and implement those characteristics in their own writing. Learners will practice creative writing skills and be introduced to or revisit, terms used in writing such as simile, metaphor, alliteration, pathos, etc. 

Writing is my passion and as well as majoring in English at university, I've 20 years’ experience in teaching English in primary schools (4-11-year-olds). Over those years I have worked regularly with groups of children specifically on English writing skills. My favourite lessons have always been when I can find out what interests and motivates a student and use those interests to engage a learner and build their confidence.

No formal assessment. Students may share their writing in the class message area for informal feedback if they like.

Pictures, references to world events (non-political- and not of a distressing nature; for example a rocket launch, discovery of a new animal, etc) or short extract of a piece of writing will be used from time to time.
