This class is a great follow up to the “Sprinkling Adjectives into your Writing” course, or as a one-time class, for students to practice adding adjectives to make their sentences pop. This is a fun, interactive class with plenty of opportunities for student engagement and practice. For this class, students should have an understanding of what nouns and adjectives are, and be ready to spice up some of their simple sentences in writing. We will start by using our senses to brainstorm adjectives that can be used to describe popcorn. Students will take turns utilizing some of our adjectives in their own sentences. We will then identify adjectives we can find in a story we read, and discuss how they made the sentences pop. After that, students will enhance a given story with adjectives of their own, using a “mad-lib” style game activity. We will do one together, then one for independent practice. Finally, students will write some sentences that pop by responding to teacher prompts. This class will utilize discussion, group work, independent work, slides, worksheets, activities, and sharing of ideas. Let’s “pop” some adjectives into our sentences and make our sentences really “pop!” (A freshly popped bag of popcorn to snack on during class is optional.) ; ) I can’t wait to see you there! * I offer another course, Sprinkling Adjectives Into Your Writing, that is a great class to take prior to this class if your student does not yet have a strong understanding of adjectives.

I am Kelley Pope. Your learners can call me Ms. Kelley. I have a Masters Degree in Education from the University of South Florida, with specializations in general elementary education and exceptional student education. I have been teaching and working with children for 3 decades. I have experience teaching children from pre-school to 12th grade, of varying abilities. I spent the majority of my time in the classroom teaching second and third grade. I have been teaching English online to non-English speakers since 2017, and I am skilled in effective, virtual learning strategies.
Teaching has been my life long passion. I'm an enthusiastic teacher and hope to inspire my students to limitless learning in a positive environment! My interactive classes are engaging, meaningful, and fun. I use multiple strategies to reach and engage different types of learners, making them comfortable and confident in their surroundings to learn and share with ease. I teach through an assortment of oral instruction, demonstrations, slides, activities, games, modeling, discussion, and hands on experiences, ensuring students have every opportunity for engagement and learning. I want each of my students to come away from our classes feeling confident and inspired.
Many of my students greatly benefit from one on one learning to help grow them into confident, happy writers.

A little about me... I am a mom, wife, and teacher. I am a huge animal lover, and have several pets of my own. When I am not teaching, I love to spend time with my family outdoors biking, hiking, enjoying the beach or Disney, and exploring new adventures. Movies and game nights are also family favorites! I have a fondness for reading writing, and crafts, as well. I love meeting new students, connecting with others, and sharing the joy of learning.
