We will explore adding and subtracting fractions with unlike denominators! This class will focus on adding and subtracting fractions with different denominators. We will add fractional parts up to 1. In this class, we will learn to write number sentences using fractions in order to solve problems. We will learn how to find a common denominator when we are adding/subtracting fractions with different denominators. Students will add and subtract fractions based on different story problems. Ex: Lindsey ran 1/4 of a mile. Haley ran 3/8 of a pizza. How far did they run in all?

Students will learn to add and subtract fractions with different denominators. 
Students will be able to write fraction number sentences based on a story problem.
Students will be able to draw a model based on a given fraction expression. 
Students will use fractions to solve story problems.

수업 자료

A one-page handout will be provided before the lesson.  Students will need to bring the included handout, a pencil, and writing/coloring tools to draw fraction models.

Hi! I'm Miss Gardner and I think learning should be fun! I am passionate about helping every child reach his or her full potential. I am committed to providing a supportive and engaging learning environment so that students enjoy learning even the most challenging of topics. I taught fourth grade for five years and loved every moment of being with the students. I transitioned to teaching online in 2019, and love teaching the topics that I am most passionate about. I love all things math related, am a big Disney fan, think reading is the best hobby, and have read the entire Harry Potter series three times. I teach math through real world scenarios so students can connect with the purpose of fractions, multiplication, shapes, and more! I also love a read aloud and a book club. If there's a favorite picture book you'd like to hear in an upcoming read aloud class, let me know when I see you in our next class together!
