Cake is good, but cake with frosting is better. It's the same with the sentences we write. Plain, boring sentences are okay, and they may even get the point across, but are we losing our readers' interest in the process? Check out the example below. SENTENCE 1: Mom realized that we were out of several ingredients. (Simple Sentence - BORING!) SENTENCE 2: Mom went to the store and bought everything we needed to bake a cake. (Simple Sentence - BORING!) AAAWWUBBIFIED SENTENCE: When she realized that we were out of several ingredients, Mom went to the store and bought everything we needed to bake a cake. (Complex Sentence - FAR MORE INTERESTING TO YOUR READER!) Students should be fully comfortable with writing complete sentences in order for this class to be beneficial.
