Young writers often just don't know where to start. They sometimes lack the self-confidence to write, and this often leads to refusal to do assignments or doing very minimal work. I will teach students to use graphic organizers to organize their thoughts. Once they are comfortable with that, we will move to understanding how that information can be turned into paragraphs. The class uses google docs as we construct the essays, this is very helpful for those with learning differences. Every student works at their own pace. I can work with the family on how to help specific needs.
Students need to be able to type on a google doc. The essays are 6 paragraphs long, so they need to have ideas for 4 main ideas and details.
This class requires using google docs, and each student needs to have their own device.
