During the month of December, A Christmas Carol is everywhere! From plays to cartoons to movies, each year newer adaptations of this classic tale continue to enchant us. In this class we will learn about what prompted Dickens to write this story. How did he craft his unique career? What was his inspiration and goal with this story? What was the public response? Why did he use ghosts as the vehicle in a holiday story? Were there really business owners who gave their employees extra holiday...
I have been an educator on Outschool since February of 2018. I have my MBA and MHA, both of which have taught me the value of conducting research and asking questions. I have a passion for history and learning. You can usually find me in the middle of 2-3 books or watching a documentary.

This class will discuss the Christmas holiday as it pertains to the story and Dickens inspiration. All discussions will be in a secular manner. We will also discuss the growing spiritualist movement that was happening during this era and how it inspired his story. There may be some Youtube videos that are seen during this class. I will share my screen and learners will not need to access them on their own.
