Do you have a voracious reader who devours books? If so, this is the spot for them. Students can join any week as we read and discuss one book each week. In this weekly ongoing class, students will read a book every week and discuss it. Generic book talk questions will be provided to start the discussions. The focus will be on themes, important decisions and consequences; and character development. This will be mostly student-led. Students will need to purchase their own copies of the books. Discussions are mainly student-led. There may be a Blooket or Kahoot game for some of the books. There is a nice variety of styles of writing and themes/main ideas. More books may be added later. Week one: The One and Only Ivan by Katherine Applegate Week two Restart by Gordon Korman Week three: Charlotte’s Web by E.B. White Week four: Matilda by Roald Dahl Week five: Freak the Mighty by Rodman Philbrick Week six: Touching Spirit Bear by Ben Mikaelsen Week seven: The Giver by Lois Lowry Week eight: Hatchet by Gary Paulsen Week nine: Esperanza Rising by Pam Nunoz Ryan Week ten: Phantom Tollbooth Norton Juster Week eleven: Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone by JK Rowling Week twelve: Maniac Mc Gee by Jerry Spinelli Week thirteen: Holes by Louis Sachar
