수업 소개
I have taken several nutrition courses, including being certified by Stanford University in child nutrition. All resources for this class are pulled from Stanford University or Harvard's nutrition files. This course is designed to take students on a taste-testing journey that explores the science behind nutrients and healthy eating habits. Each week we will learn about nutrition, food choices, and the science behind how food affects our body. (Please see the syllabus for a complete breakdown of class material.) PDFs for notes and recipe cards are sent each week which will create a complete cookbook and notes packet by the time class is finished. **(It's not required, but I highly recommend a 1" 3-ring notebook to keep the collection of printouts from class so students may continuously use it, even after class is over.) I always try to make learning fun! We will use engaging videos, food bingo, and nutrition fact Blooket games to keep things interesting! Each student who completes the course will receive a certificate of completion! -Parents, please message me if you have any specific concerns. I can always add personalized requests to the syllabus!

Macro vs. Micro
How We Learn - A brief exploration of how our brains acquire new information and establish new habits (like eating habits). - We will also view a video that illustrates how neural pathways are formed in the brain and discuss the distinction between macro and micro nutrients.

Food groups: Fruits, vegetables, grains, protein, and dairy. We will discuss each food group's responsibilities in the body, recommended servings, and students will play food bingo!

Nutrition labels: How to read nutrition labels to understand serving sizes, calories, sugar, and sodium. (Students will be asked to bring an item to class from their own kitchen to practice reading the label.)

PDFs will be provided each week. I recommend a binder of some sort (a 1" 3-ring binder) to keep the recipe cards and notes from class.
