***$10 off code for your first class with this code! DRYELCQDFM10 I love teaching math and can’t wait to meet your child! Building relationships with my students is very important in my math classroom! I also encourage students to build relationships with each other in our class. I strive to create a classroom where everyone feels welcome and excited to share their problem solving strategies and ideas!! I cap this class at 7 learners to ensure everyone is able share their math thinking! This class will begin in September and run through the end of May! It will cover 7th grade math standards. Each class will begin with a mini lesson about a new topic. We will complete a couple examples together and then I will give the students a chance to try some on their own. Then we will play a game together to practice the new skill! Games may include Gimkit, pictionary, blooket, or basketball! Schedule for Fall of 2024: Week of 9/11: Ratios, unit rate Week of 9/18: introduction to proportions and cross multiplication. Week 9/25: Proportion word problems with tables. Week 10/2: Proportion word problems with graphs. Week of 10/9: Represent proportional relationships in equations and tables. Week of 10/16: Percent of a number, Percent proportion Week of 10/23: Calculate percent of change, percent error Week of 10/30 : No class, no charge this week Week of 11/6: Solve problems with scale drawings of geometric shapes Week of 11/13: Operations with decimals with substitution and one step equations. Week of 11/20: Operations with fractions with substitution and one step equations. Week of 11/27: What is an integer? Adding and subtracting integers (positive and negative whole numbers) using pictures, number lines, mental math, and a trick or two! Week of 12/5: What is a rational number? Adding and subtracting rational numbers. Week of 12/12: Multiplying and dividing integers and rational numbers Week of 12/18: All operations with integers and rational numbers! Order of operation. Winter break! Week of 1/8: Simplifying expressions with positive and negative numbers. Week of 1/14: Distributive property, simplifying expressions, substitution For example: if a = (-3) and b = (-7) solve: b(a + 4) -12 Week of 1/21: Solving one and two step equations! Week of 1/28: Inequalities on a number line. Solving two step inequalities, graphing them on a number line! Week of 2/4: What is probability? Theoretical probability, word problems. Week of 2/11: Calculating Outcomes! Week 2/18: Experimental probability. We will make predictions based on theoretical probability in class and then we will try the experiment to find the experimental probability. Experiments may include coin flips, drawing blocks from a bag, a spinner, dice, etc. Week of 2/25: Finding the probability of compound events (example: What is the probability you will roll double sixes?) Week of 3/4: compound probability of dependent events, probability review Week of 3/10: Finding measures of Center (mean, median, mode) Survey samples, Making claims from samples, are the inferences valid? Week of 3/17: Measures of differentiation: range, mean absolute deviation Week of 3/25: What is a box plot, creating and reading box plots. Week of 4/1: Angles: Supplementary, complimentary, vertical, adjacent angles. Finding unknown angles. Week of 4/8: No class, no charge Week of 4/15: More Angles: corresponding angles, alternate interior angles, alternate exterior angles, transversal line! Week of 4/22: Triangles: Naming triangles, unique triangles. Finding missing angles. Week of 4/29: Area and circumference of circles. Week of 5/6: Area of 2 dimensional shapes, area of compound shapes (shapes made of triangles, rectangles, trapezoids, etc.) Week of 5/13: Surface area of three dimensional shapes (cylinders, prisms, cubes, pyramids). Week of 5/20: More surface area. Week of 5/27: Volume of 3 dimensional figures. Solve real world problems that involve surface area and volume. Week of 6/3: Review proportional relationships. 석사 학위 교육 UNC Charlotte에서
학사 학위 교육 University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill에서
Hi!! I’m Mrs. Drye. I have a Bachelors degree in Elementary Education from UNC Chapel Hill and a Masters Degree in Middle Grades Math Education from UNC-Charlotte. I was a NC Teaching Fellow and Teacher of the Year when I taught 6th grade math! As a teacher I focus on building relationships with students so that I can help them to build their math confidence. I focus on differentiating learning for each of my students. I can extend learning for some learners while helping others to review a topic that’s tough for them. I encourage students to share their math thinking and guide them in learning new strategies. I also keep class fun and exciting with games, discussion, and songs! I taught 5th and 6th grade for 8 years before deciding to stay home and homeschool my three girls. My daughters are now 10, 8, and almost 6! I enjoy exploring new places, teaching, and exercising!
