미국 6학년 - 8학년 학년
In this FLEX Language Arts class, we will explore 4 key skills, practice the lesson content with fun challenges and activities, and learn how to apply this knowledge to reading and writing they may encounter in other school courses or in the real world. Each week, we will focus on one specific Language Arts skill. I will present a video lesson each Monday, teaching all about that week's new topic. We will explore examples together, then complete an activity to practice their new knowledge! Learners will share their work with their classmates in the classroom using a picture or video, so their classmates and I can offer feedback and see their progress. Students will work to make connections between the topic and their own experiences. Students will then have an opportunity to practice the skill in multiple ways (handouts, video discussion, chat/messaging discussion, Flipgrid, student-paced Nearpod presentations, online scavenger hunts and challenges, drawing, etc.) Video tutorial lessons will be added on Mondays at 8am EST. Since this is a flexible schedule class, there are NO LIVE MEETINGS; however, I will be available to answer any questions, provide encouragement/support, and facilitate activities in the classroom throughout the four weeks. This is the biggest difference between my course and any other Language Arts course you can find online! NOTE: Courses can be taken in any order or as a stand-alone class! Each course will offer 4 NEW Language Arts skills to study. Part 1 Course Schedule Week 1: Point of View Week 2: Descriptive Language/Imagery/Visualization Week 3: Non-Fiction Text Structures Week 4: Elements of Plot
학습 목표
Students will improve their understanding of 4 key Language Arts skills (Point of View, Descriptive Language/Imagery/Visualization, Non-Fiction Text Structures, Elements of Plot) and will be able to apply this knowledge through multiple methods.
그 외 세부 사항
학부모 가이드
We will use YouTube, Flipgrid and Nearpod throughout the course. All sites will be accessible directly through the Outschool classroom.
For Nearpod, learners will be given a code each week to access the lesson, and they will not need an individual account.
Flipgrid will require a student account, and learners will be given a class code on the first day of class to connect to our group board. Please sign up at https://info.flip.com/, so your learner will be ready to begin. It's a very easy process, and I'll be glad to answer any questions you may have!
Weekly video tutorials are housed on YouTube and will be linked in the classroom. Learners may also access the internet/YouTube to help with class challenges.
수업 자료
Paper and pencil will be needed for this course. I would recommend a composition book so all notes/activities can stay together.
