4학년 학년 - 4개 과목 모두!(영어, 수학, 역사, 과학)

Class is appropriate for 4th graders or 3rd graders needing a challenge, as well as 5th graders looking for a review!

3 days a week - 30 minute lessons with homework and practices for the rest of the week. (Please visit my study hall class if you'd like a designated homework time scheduled as well; current students are offered a 50% discount.)

Parents ** - It is much more fun for everyone when students come to class with their cameras on and ready to participate in conversations and games. This is not a lecture-style class, but instead is interactive and student-focused! 

I prefer to teach from a holistic perspective, which means this class goes beyond the typical state curriculum. Often, I will "double dip," for instance, when we explore Ancient Egypt and the pyramids; we might then write a formal paragraph about our findings and discuss how we may still share similarities with those from that era. (Hieroglyphics = emojis, right?) Alternatively, we could take reading comprehension quizzes based on a report about the Challenger Deep after watching a video of Victor Vescovo's dive to the ocean floor. My goal is to show students the real-world applications of the skills they're learning and spark a curiosity to learn more. 

-Writing skills: Creative writing, formal writing, poetry, and author studies
-Reading comprehension 
-Vocabulary and spelling (I use the All About Spelling program)
-History lessons: World history 
-Science lessons: Geography, marine biology, zoology, and nutrition
-4th grade math curriculum: Fractions, geometry, graphs, and data
-Life skills: How to address an envelope, read nutrition labels, problem-solving skills, and perspective-taking
-Mental health: Bits of age-appropriate psychology and philosophy: I love getting students to think outside the box, and I believe developing these skills at a young age is crucial.
