수업 소개

*Beginner Intro to Dance* (OR SIMILAR) is a pre-requisite to this course. If you have taken Dance classes other than this course that you feel your student would be qualified, please feel free to message me! 

At this point, we have learned the basics of the ballet positions, movements, and techniques of Ballet and Basic Dance Movement. We will elaborate further on those basic concepts. 

Class will be structured as follows:
1.Warm-up - Using silly dance moves, we will get our bodies warm. We will do Plies, releves, and arm movements (pors de bras) in all Five Positions at the barre. A real Barre is not required. There are many household items that can be used; a chair, back of a couch or sofa, or a counter top. 

2. We will then stretch our muscles. We will do some basic stretching and learn some more intermediate stretches as well. 

3. Center work - We will learn a new Ballet and/or dance foundational movement at the "center" of the floor each week that will build on top of each previous dance move. Some movements will travel. We will do our best to use the space as creatively as possible! 

4.Dance/Choreography - Each week, we will put our center work and technique together to form a 2-3 minute routine. 

This class is meant to be fun for the kids and also informative of how to do basic ballet and dance moves. *This class is a follow-up class to the Beginner Ballet & Dance class for 4-6 year olds.*

Dance builds confidence, strength, and is also a great activity to stay healthy and fit. Each week will include coloring pages to help remember what we are working on, music to practice at home, and any feedback the students want!

Due to the nature of this class, it is important to take all safety precautions necessary with exercise. Students should make the teacher aware of any injuries or health issues that could prevent them from dancing. Comfortable clothing is important. Having adequate amount of space to dance is important as well. A water bottle may be helpful to have nearby as well.

I teach Movement classes in studio and online as well! I have been teaching dance for 15+ years to all ages (18months - adult) as well as Fitness classes to kids and adults. Dance has been a major part of my life for 32 years and I love bringing that passion to others. I've worked with young and old, special needs, low-impact or injured, wheel-chair bound, and all others! 

I believe that Dance/Movement is a rare "sport" that is all-inclusive; gross and fine motor skills, spatial awareness, emotionally stimulating, builds self-confidence, improves discipline & listening skills, and much more. 

 My family consists of my super supportive husband, my oldest daughter (8) youngest daughter (6), and then the littlest one is 3years old, but he was born 3-1/2 months early. We spent a significant amount of time in the NICU in the city we live in and are forever grateful for modern medicine! Our life has been a rollercoaster and, as crazy as this sounds, I wouldn't have it any other way... mostly. haha! 

Being a mama myself, I  try to be flexible with my schedule and appreciate the understanding from parents as I navigate our medically complex son's needs as well as two active girls!
