Does your learner like to solve fun mysteries? Well, let them put on their detective hat and get to work using their upper elementary math skills! Mini Math Mysteries are a fun 'game-like' activity to practice different math skills. They follow a simple elimination structure where learners will be using the answers to the math questions to eliminate possibilities. This is an ongoing class, so you are free to join in and leave as you please. 

At the beginning of each class, learners will hear a short story to preface the mystery they will be solving for the day. Then, it is time for our math detectives to get to work! Learners will answer a variety of questions based on different math content (multiplication, division, addition, subtraction, place value, rounding, telling time, missing addends, etc.) to solve the mystery. They will first solve the math questions, and then they will look for their answers in the boxes and eliminate the boxes with a matching answer on our shared screen. After answering all questions, only one image will remain (that image will contain a number that didn't match any of the answers to the questions) and that box is the solution to our mystery!

-Addition within 1,000 (Regrouping Required) + Word Problems
-Subtraction within 1,000 (Regrouping Required) + Word Problems
-Comparing Numbers (up to 1,000)
-Multiplying by 2s and 10s
-Converting from Expanded Form (Hundreds, Tens & Ones)
-Writing the Value of the Underlined Digit (Hundreds, Tens & Ones)
-Multiplying by 5s
-Dividing by 2
-Multiplication Facts (2s, 3s, and 4s)
-Multiplication Facts (5s, 6s, and 7s)
-Multiplication Facts (8s, 9s, and 10s)
-Rounding to the Nearest Ten
-Multiplication Facts (11s and 12s)
-Read & Write Time (15 Minute Intervals)
-Missing Addends to Make 100
-Mix of Multiplication Facts (2-12)
-Adding Three Addends (Single, Double, and Triple-Digit Numbers)
-Read & Write time (5 Minute Intervals)
-Multiplication Facts (0-12)
-Area Measurement: Counting Unit Squares
-Division Facts (1-12)
-Read & Interpret A Line Graph
-Addition within 1,000 (Questions and Word Problems)
-Subtraction within 1,000 (Questions and Word Problems)
-Place Value Hundreds, Tens & Ones (Expanded Form, Value of underlined digit)
-Rounding to the nearest 10 or 100
