In this engaging "minds on" camp, we will review 3rd grade math standards through direct instruction, guided practice, problem solving, games, and Number Talks. This course is ideal for students who have just completed 3rd grade and want to strengthen their skills before moving on to 4th, or for higher achieving students entering 3rd grade in the fall who want to get a jump start on their 3rd  grade math skills.

In third grade, multiplication and division are introduced. A majority of the year is spent focusing on the understanding of these two operations and the relationship between them. By the end of third grade, your child should have all their multiplication facts (up to 100) memorized. We will work on this in our camp to solidify that fact knowledge.

The class will be structured as follows:

🎲 Week One: June 11: Place Value, Rounding, Comparing

-Rounding Numbers to Nearest 10 or 100
-Compare and Order Whole Numbers

🧩 Week Two: June 18: Number Sense and Operations
-Addition and Subtraction Within 1,000

🚀 Week Three: June 25: Multiplication
-Introduction to What is Multiplication?
-Multiply by Single Digit Factors

✏️Week Four: July 2:  Multiplication
-Multiplication Problem Solving
-Multiply by 10 and 100

🔎 Week Five: July 9: Division
-Relating Multiplication to Division
-Dividing Whole Numbers by One Digit Divisors
-Division Problem Solving

📒 Week Six: July 16: Connecting Multiplication and Division; Fractions
-Interpret Word Problems and Solve for Missing Variable
-Rewriting Multiplication as Division
-Introducing Fractions as Parts of a Whole

✏ Week Seven: July 23: Fractions
-Parts of a Whole
-Fractions on a Number Line
-Compare Fractions

❇ Week Eight: July 30: Geometry
-Finding Area and Perimeter


Learners will need to have access to pencil and paper for problem solving.

Outschool policies regarding refunds for classes:

✅If your learner misses a class meeting, you are not entitled to a refund. Your teacher may, however, transfer your learner to another available section, or provide a class recording, at their discretion.
✅If your learner has not joined the meeting 10 minutes after the class’s start time, the meeting may be cancelled, at the teacher’s discretion. This is considered a missed meeting and you are not entitled to a refund.
✅Refunds are not guaranteed in the event that your learner misses a past or future class meeting due to a schedule conflict, and will depend on the class-specific refund policy.
✅If your learner’s meeting time changes because of daylight saving time starting or ending for several world regions, you are not entitled to a refund if they’re unable to attend. Please review your learner’s schedule ahead of time to ensure you know when classes are meeting.
