주당 1시간. -Students will receive access to 1-2 homework assignments each week throughout the course. These are small tasks that I feel would be more suitable as an individual activity rather than an in-class activity. -We will also complete two projects. These projects can be as time/labor-intensive as your student wants to make them, the purpose of the project is to give students an opportunity to show their understanding of the topic. I will give them several ideas to choose from, but they also have the option to present a project idea for consideration. -A vocabulary quiz and a unit test are also provided for those that would like to test their knowledge in this way. **Quarter 1 is NOT required before taking this course.** These "Spectacular Science" courses are a fantastic way to meet your student's science curriculum needs! This class is part 2 of a 4-part series designed to cover an entire year of science curriculum for your 6th or 7th grader. Courses can be taken in any order. Students will meet live once a week and be provided with optional assignments to complete outside of our class time each week. Classes will include several activities designed to capture every type of learner including illustrating, organizing, reading, writing, watching, researching, exploring, and even gameshow-style activities! I'm a firm believer in creating engaging learning experiences, and I know middle school students will look forward to each class. Part 2 of this 4-part course will focus on physical science, with an emphasis on diving deep into learning about energy. Unit 1- Conduction, Convection, & Radiation (Weeks 1-4) -Objective: Students will investigate methods of thermal energy transfers, including conduction, convection, and radiation. -We will explore this topic in 4 live class periods. Students have the option to complete approximately 2 assignments each week and a project at the end of the unit. (Projects can be as time/labor-intensive as the student chooses) Our last week in this unit will include a fun game-style review/informal assessment! Students will also be provided with an optional unit test. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Unit 2- Energy Transformation (Weeks 5-8) -Objectives: Students will be able to demonstrate the transformation of energy from one form of energy to another. -We will explore this topic in 4 live class periods. Students have the option to complete approximately 2 assignments each week and a project at the end of the unit. (Projects can be as time/labor-intensive as the student chooses) Our last week in this unit will include a fun game-style review/informal assessment! Learners may need to print a few handouts throughout the course, or have access to view handouts on a separate device during class. I typically used Nearpod, Kahoot, and Google Classroom for these courses, but I take the time to clearly explain and provide support for each of these!
