Welcome Outschool Students! In our 2nd-grade class, students will be introduced to a years worth of math curriculum! Whether your student is entering into the 2nd grade or has completed the grade and needs a refresher on various mathematical concepts - this class is perfect! Our class provides students with an immersive experience, as we use multiple learning differentiations to ensure all abilities are met! Math should be embraced by students and teachers with excitement, versus anxiety and fear. Our class brings forth the joy of what math can be through the use of various techniques. Remember, not every child learns in the same manner! Whether your student is homeschooled or attends traditional school, what makes our class different is the use of online platforms. We utilize technological advances in gamified forms such as Genially. 📚 Our Class Experience 📚 Each meeting, the teacher will cover the math concept for that day through a 'mini lesson' for students to follow along. All lessons covered will be presented via presentation method for students to view. Students will have worksheets to use while in class, and outside of class as guided homework to ensure the information is retained. Providing students with a gamified experience enhances their engagement and interaction! Outside of each live meeting, at the start of each week, students will be given the outline of which math concepts will be taught; along with worksheets to complete. Of course, students will complete said worksheets outside of class time to enhance the concepts learned for that specific day! ❓What is Genially?❓ 🔗 Genially is a website and link that will be provided for extra practice after each class. Genially is a gamified format for students to practice their math skills learned in class that day. The best part is, families do not need to log into a website or utilize a pin code. It's completely free to you by the teacher, as well as fun and engaging for your student! 🌻 Method of Teaching & Learning Abilities 🌻 Beyond the use of technology, the teaching style I have is student centered, this way instruction will be based on how well the students are taking in the information. My goal is to guide students, and to ensure they feel comfortable on their journey of learning mathematical concepts! As their teacher, I am able to reach all learning types: Visual, Auditory, Read/Write, and Kinaesthetic. ------------ 📆 WEELY SCHEDULE 📆 ------------ ⭐️ Section 1: Number Sense to 1,000 Sept. 3rd - 5th: Place Value up to 1,000 Sept. 9th - 12th: Drawing Base 10 Blocks To Represent Numbers to 1,000/Writing the Word Form To Represent Numbers to 1,000 Sept. 16th - 19th: Place Value of Numbers to 1,000 & Comparing Sept. 23rd - 26th: Ordering Numbers from LTG & GTL Sept. 30th - Oct. 3rd: Skip Counting 5's, 10's, 100's ⭐️ Section 2: Two Digit Addition Oct. 7th - 10th: 2-Digit Numbers with a 100’s Chart & Open Line Oct. 14th - 17th: Decomposing into a Number Bond & Tens/Ones Oct. 21st - 24th: 2-Digit Addition W/O Regrouping by Using & Drawing Base Ten Blocks Oct. 28th - 31st: 2-Digit Addition With Regrouping by Drawing Base Ten Blocks Nov. 4th - 7th: Adding With the Traditional Algorithm & One-Step Real World Word Problems ⭐️ Section 3: Two Digit Subtraction Nov. 12th - 14th: Subtracting 2-Digit Numbers with a 100’s Chart & Open Line Nov. 18th - 22nd: Subtraction by Decomposing Numbers into Number Bonds & Tens/Ones **No classes Nov. 25th - 29th in observation of Thanksgiving Break** Dec. 2nd - 5th: 2-Digit Subtraction W/O Regrouping Using & Drawing Base Ten Blocks Dec. 9th - 12th: 2-Digit Subtraction With Regrouping by Drawing Base Ten Blocks Dec. 16th - 20th: Subtraction with the Traditional Algorithm & One-Step Real World Problems **No classes Dec. 23rd - Jan. 3rd in observation of Winter Break** ⭐️ Section 4: Addition & Subtraction to 1,000 Jan. 6th - 10th: Adding 3-Digit Numbers with an Open Number Line & Addition W/O Regrouping Using a Place Value Chart Jan. 13th - 16th: 3-Digit Addition With Regrouping Using a Place Value Chart Jan. 20th - 23rd: Subtracting 3-Digit Numbers with an Open Number Line & 3-Digit Subtraction W/O Regrouping Using a Place Value Chart Jan. 27th - 30th: 3-Digit Subtraction: Regrouping Tens/Ones & Decomposing Hundreds and Regrouping in the Tens Feb. 3rd - 6th: 3-Digit Subtraction: Decomposing Hundreds and Tens & Subtraction Across Zeros ⭐️ Section 5: Measurement Feb. 10th - 13th: Ruler and Tape: Measure in Inches and Feet Feb. 17th - 20th: Meter Stick and Yardstick: Measure in Inches, Feet, and Yards Feb. 24th - 27th: Real World Problems ⭐️ Section 6: Money Mar. 3rd - 6th: Counting Coins: Penny, Dime, Nickel, and Quarter Mar. 10th - 13th: Counting Money: Bills and Coins (Addition) Mar. 17th - 20th: Counting Money: Bills and Coins (Subtraction) Mar. 24th - 27th: Real World Problems ⭐️ Section 7: Time Mar. 31st - Apr. 3rd: Analog Clock: Hour and Minute Hand Apr. 7th - 10th: Analog Clock: Minute Hand (Quarter After/Quarter to) Apr. 14th - 17th: Analog Clock: Minute Hand (Nearest to 5 minutes) Apr. 21st - 24th: ⭐️ Section 8: Shape & Lines Apr. 28th - May 1st: Naming 2-D Shapes: Composing & Decompsing 2-D Shapes May 5th - 8th: Sort, Classify, and Construct 3-D Shapes ⭐️ Section 9: Data & Graphing May 12th - 15th: Reading & Creating a Picture Graph - Real World Problems May 19th - 22nd: Reading & Creating a Bar Graph - Real World Problems May 26th - 29th: Reading & Creating a Line Graph - Real World Problems ----------Holiday/Break Schedule---------- Sept. 2nd: Labor Day Nov. 11th: Veterans Day Nov. 25th - 29th: Thanksgiving Break Dec. 23rd - Jan. 9th: Winter Break February 17th: Presidents Day Mar. 31st - Apr.4th: Spring Break May 26th: Memorial Day *Practice work will be given out after each class meeting to help extend upon the lesson and to enhance their learned skills. *The class would be great for students who are entering or who have recently exited the 4th grade (those who have recently exited the 4th grade this class would be used as review).*

Welcome! My name is Jessica (Teacher Jessica). I have my Master's in Elementary Education (multiple subjects)! I have taught in the 6th grade classroom, and as of the last four years I have been teaching here on Outschool!
My teaching experience has given me the knowledge and tools necessary to ensure all students can thrive inside and outside of the classroom. Being an elementary school teacher, I enjoy and have fun teaching in all areas; as you may notice with my class listings I enjoy doing a little bit of everything!
I love to enhance learning development, and to watch each student grow individually. I look forward to meeting your child!
Aside from work life, I have a husband and three little ones! Outside of teaching, we love to be outside in nature, reading is life, and family time is everything!
