In class, we will focus on a variety of topics suitable for the age and needs of your child. Beginners will work on English fundamentals and more advanced students will focus on further developing their skills. All learners will learn new vocabulary, increase fluency, and improve grammar knowledge. 

The first lesson is an assessment class to get to know your child and gauge his or her English ability. Subsequent lessons will incorporate various learning materials based on the needs of the student. This will  include my own resources and appropriate ESL curricula. 

Lesson topics for beginners include colors, family, animals, seasons, and clothing. A typical class begins with a warm-up to engage the student’s previous knowledge. New vocabulary and phrases are then introduced followed by multiple speaking activities and games to practice new material. Through these exercises students will become familiar with the meaning, pronunciation, and proper usage of new vocabulary in sentences. As the student progresses, phonics, decoding skills, and grammar rules will be taught explicitly and practiced in class. 

Lesson topics for intermediate and advanced students include hobbies, space, culture, health and media. Classes begin with a recap of the previous lesson and an introduction to new vocabulary words and phrases. New material is explored through speaking and reading activities with a focus on grammar, sentence formation, and further development of conversational skills.

Hello! My name is Laura Chamberlain and I am a certified teacher from New Brunswick, Canada. I have been an educator for more than twelve years. 

I would characterize my teaching style as kind and supportive. My students' parents have described my classes as friendly and rigorous. I believe that building self-confidence is crucial in the development of young learners. I strive to create a comfortable and engaging class experience where students can thrive. 

My background includes six years as a kindergarten teacher and two years as K-6 substitute teacher. I have been teaching online since 2016. I have taught within Canada as well as abroad in China, Kuwait, and Cambodia. I hold degrees in Education, Science and Anthropology.
