Tutoring availability is limited, so send me a message to see what I have open. I'll do my best to add you to my schedule! The learner will determine what Algebra 1 topics we will cover during the tutoring session. They should bring their burning questions along with homework, notes, or other materials that they have been using in class. I'll listen to their concerns, ask any clarifying questions, and walk them through similar problems to the ones that they are struggling over. My approach is to help them to ask themselves the right questions so that going forward, the students have an internal dialogue to help them solve the problems. I'll use a whiteboard that I'll screenshare with the student to work out problems. The learner is encouraged to send me their questions ahead of time. Bring pencil and paper along with your calculator to the session.

HI! I’m Mary Kennedy, certified math teacher, and I love working with students who struggle with high school math and doubt that they can do it.
I've taught Algebra 1, Geometry, and Algebra 2 and have more than 20 years of teaching experience. My Master's degree is in Learning Disabilities.
In my classes, students connect their learning to critical thinking skills (includes reasoning, analysis, and perseverance) and growth mindset (“I haven’t learned this YET.”).
I strive to make the math concepts accessible to struggling learners.

About Mrs. K.
I do life in a tiny tourist town with my husband and three kids (when they're home from college).
Twice, my family has had the unique and wonderful experience of hosting students from Southeast Asia in our home and community. We have maintained friendships with these students and their families for several years now through technology, despite our geographic distance.
