Class 1 will have a short passage with an illustration to ensure comprehension. Class 2 will have an I Spy or Find it page depending on level. These should take no longer than 15 minutes.Assessment

This is a highly interactive class. I will reach out prior to the class to see where students need help. I will then teach that class with the child's needs in mind. As the class progresses, I will conduct further testing to see what gaps are still present. In class 1, I will begin class with a spiral review of the previous class. Then we will jump into the topic of the day. We will work on phonological awareness, then making words, followed by reading words. Next we will read a short passage together. At the end we will go over any homework for the week. In class 2, class will begin by showing the illustration on the passage read and a quick read. We will then work on phonological awareness, then making words, followed by reading words. Next we write a sentence together using the skills taught. At the end we will go over any homework for the week.

Students will improve their understanding of phonics and become more fluent readers. They will gain confidence and the love of reading!
