週あたり 1-2 時間. Homework will include key word outlines, writing assignments, style worksheets, and brief reading assignments. Reading assignments can be read independently or be read to them. Writing assignments may be hand-written or typed. All writing assignments should be double-spaced to allow better readability and room for editing.評価
I will offer written feedback and editing of submitted assignments. I will use the checklist given in the book to guide my feedback. I do not offer letter or number grades. In order for the assignments to be evaluated, they must be either typed or very neatly handwritten. The files should be uploaded in a direct Outschool message to me rather than posted on the main classroom page. Photos of handwritten work may be submitted provided the photos are oriented in the correct direction, taken from directly above, and fill the frame of the picture. If I cannot read it, I will ask for a different file to be uploaded. All submitted assignments must be double-spaced.この文章は自動翻訳されています

NOTE: For those wanting to begin with a second-semester IEW class, I suggest completing my short class, IEW Writing Overview of Units 1-4. It can serve as a pre-requisite to help the learner be more successful. This 15-week writing class follows the first-semester class and continues with writing descriptive, informative, and inventive essays. Adding to the stylistic techniques learned in the first semester, young writers will continue to follow the checklist to add structure and style to their writing. Using IEW’s Fables, Myths, and Fairy Tales theme-based writing book (purchase of book required for class), learners will encounter sources and stories to base their writing upon. This class will cover IEW writing units 5-8. Through group writing during class, grammar exercises, homework, and feedback on assignments, learners will be guided through the steps to plan, write, and edit their assignments. I offer feedback on all class assignments that are sent to me. Class time structure: Introductions: An ice breaker type question offers an opportunity to play with words and style as well as to become acquainted with fellow learners. Questions concerning the literature selections may also be included. Grammar: Grammar lessons, editing, and new style techniques are included in our grammar time, which is presented through individual or group exercises. Writing lesson: The lesson is presented and group writing practices the structure. Vocabulary or Review: A vocabulary and grammar review exercise uses presentation slides and Zoom reactions. IEW Units: Unit five will be taught during weeks 1-5 with lessons 16-21 and will instruct learners in writing descriptive paragraphs using pictures as the source. Unit six will be taught during weeks 6-10 with lessons 22-25 and will introduce research skills through source outlines and fused outlines. Learners will have an opportunity to write as a group and write individually. Unit seven will be taught during weeks 11-13 with lessons 26-28 and will apply the techniques learned in the course to writing from the brain without a source text. Unit eight will be taught during weeks 14-15 with lesson 29 and will review the year and conclude with a five-paragraph essay. Learners will be involved in class exercises and group writing as well as individual writing and presenting. Learners will learn basic editing in order to better edit their own assignments. Homework, approximately 1-2 hours per week, will include key word outlines, oral exercises, writing assignments, editing exercises, and reading. Homework will be submitted via Outschool messaging and will be returned with further edits and feedback. Please note that this class time will change based on Daylight Savings Time for the Central time zone. *For those who want to begin with this second-semester class, I recommend first completing my short class that reviews units 1-4. https://outschool.com/classes/iew-writing-overview-of-units-1-4-outlines-paragraphs-and-stories-luoHJ9Rg
