Each of these engaging classes is a stand-alone class. I will use different prompts and graphic organizers for each class. Over time learners will develop skills while writing about things that interest them. This is a fun class and is meant to have learners experience enjoyment in the writing process. Learners will write a different journal, retell, reflection, description, recount, narrative, etc. each class. It will follow the following format: 1. Introductions and a short icebreaker. 2. Introduction of an engaging writing prompt. These will be different each class and can include a picture, a writing topic, a student-made drawing,, or an interesting object. 3. Teacher modelling of a graphic organizer. 4. Independent practice filling out the graphic organizer with teacher support. 5. Teacher modelling of using the graphic organizer to write a piece. 6. Independent student practice using their own graphic organizer to write a narrative with teacher support. 7. Sharing time-Students will be encouraged to share their writing with their peers.

I have 26 years of teaching experience. I have a Masters in Education with a focus on Curriculum and Theory. I was a classroom teacher and an Elementary School Vice Principal. I have an Advanced Certificate in Literacy Instruction with a strong background and passion for teaching students to read, write, listen and speak. I am also an artist. I have a strong foundation in Art Education and love to teach lessons that mesh the Fundamentals of Art with the pure joy of creating something.
