In this class, we will be covering a wide range of 3rd-4th grade vocabulary words through different mini-lessons and activities. Some of these mini-lessons/ activities include: Phonics Magnification Vocabulary Mapping Frayer Model Vocabulary Matrix Vocabulary Tree Vocabulary Coding Categorizing Word Part (prefix, roots, suffixes) Games Word Scavenger Hunt Mini-Informal Assessments: Vocabulary Charades, Context and Illustrations Naturally, we will conquer these words with some resources to aid us! Students are encouraged to have a physical dictionary and thesaurus, but we definitely be using online versions as well that I will show on the screen. I encourage students to bring their background knowledge to the class and want to get their input about a word before we diving into it. This includes a students knowledge of other languages! Multilingual learners have a lot to share since languages do share words and words parts.
