Imagine that it's a sunny summer day and you arrive at your destination to hike with your family or friends. As you walk and talk, you are amazed by the beautiful views surrounding you. It's wildflower season and you feel compelled to stop at every turn to take pictures of the gorgeous flowers. This is what it's like when I'm hiking and I'd like to share that experience with you. Students will be shown a map of the regions where the teacher's wildflower photographs were taken. Students will learn how to write acrostic and haiku styles of poetry. Students will paint several types of wildflowers including lupines using acrylic and watercolor paints.
The teacher has a master's degree in Integrating Arts into the Curriculum and is thrilled to have Outschool as a platform to teach what she loves. She was a kindergarten through 4th-grade teacher for thirty years and currently gives workshops for PBS Kids.
Art: Days 1 and 3 Watercolor Paper (2 sheets) 9" x 12" Tray of watercolor paints Fine Point or Extra Fine Black Sharpie marker (or any permanent black marker) Acrylic paints (pink, blue, purple, white, green, yellow) Plate or palette for mixing paint Small and medium-size brushes Q-tips to use for painting on Day One Paper Towels Water Table Covering and Paint Smock Poetry: Days 2 and 4 A few pieces of paper or a writing journal, eraser, and a pencil.
