In this class, we will light a story candle and read the beautiful, magical story of The Snow Queen by Hans Christian Andersen. The students will be led to complete a main lesson book page with drawing and writing. In class two, students will recall and retell the story of The Snow Queen together as a class. They will also finish their page and complete a second main lesson book page (as time allows) with drawing and writing. We will also do some snow yoga together. Students may bring a main lesson book or drawing paper, as well as block/stick crayons to complete the drawing. "I can give her no more power than she already has. 🌿 Welcome to My Outschool Classroom! 📚✨
Hello! I’m so glad you’re here. As a lifelong educator with a deep love for books and storytelling, I bring a rich, Waldorf-inspired approach to teaching reading, literacy, and creative learning.
After many wonderful years as a Waldorf school librarian in rural Pennsylvania, where I curated libraries and taught grades 1-12, I now bring that same warmth and depth to my classes here on Outschool. At the Waldorf school, I designed library and reading programs, read aloud classic and modern tales, guided students in research and writing, and cultivated a love of literature across all ages. I’ve also led Reading Olympics book clubs, creative writing classes, and cyber civics lessons, always focusing on whole-child learning—honoring each student’s unique journey.
I have experience in Waldorf early childhood education, having worked in kindergarten aftercare and first-grade rest time, and I’ve spent years tutoring young readers from around the world in phonics, leveled reading, grammar, and fluency. My Yale Overcoming Dyslexia certification, alongside my psychology and linguistics background, allows me to support struggling readers with gentleness, confidence-building strategies, and joy.
At the heart of my teaching is a simple goal: to inspire a love for reading and nurture confidence in every child. Whether we are diving into a fairy tale, practicing phonics, or exploring a beautifully illustrated book, I bring enthusiasm, warmth, and creativity to each lesson. My approach is engaging, patient, and individualized—helping each student develop a lifelong connection to language and stories.
🌟 A Little About Me:
I’m a mother of two amazing young adults and I homeschooled them with a Waldorf-inspired curriculum for many years. Our home is filled with books, creativity, and our adorable rescue kitties, Holly, who might just make a surprise classroom appearance!
