Have you ever wondered why penguins don't fly? Or have you wondered about the different types of penguins? If so, then this class is for you. In this one time class, we will explore these unique animals called penguins. We will look at the differences between penguins and other birds, the different species of penguins, where they live, and their lifestyles. We will also learn how they are adapted to survive in some of the coldest places on the planet. We will look at, and discuss, pictures of penguins, their habitats, and even look at some video clips of penguins. Within the class, we will also play some quick games to reinforce our learning. We will be using Nearpod during this class, which converts the presentation into an interactive lesson. The link to Nearpod will be posted in the classroom prior to the start of class. Please assist your learner with logging in when class begins. No prior knowledge of penguins is needed to join this class, only curiosity about these amazing animals.

Hello there!
My name is Kathy and I have been a certified science teacher the last 20 years! My favorite classes to teach are any that have to do with the ocean, and its inhabitants. I have a degree in Marine Biology, am a certified SCUBA diver, have taught aquatic summer camps at a local aquarium, and have volunteered for multiple aquariums and rescue groups.
I also love to craft...in particular, to create things with my Cricut. I also have a degree in Fashion Design and love to sew. I look forward to adding classes that focus on each of these passions.
As a teacher, I often notice students lacking the technology skills needed to be successful in the classroom. I will also offer classes on how to use programs such as Google Suite, Microsoft Office, and a variety of other applications often used.
