Informal Assessment: At least 2-3 times during the class, students get a chance to share the game they are creating with the class. During the share, the teacher highlights creative aspects of their game and makes suggestions when appropriate. The goal of this is really to highlight students' creativity and point out that everyone has the ability to produce unique and creative content.この文章は自動翻訳されています

This is a self-paced class. There are no live meetings. Students will watch video demonstrations and be assigned tasks to apply what they learn from the videos. Students are encouraged to submit their final game at the end of the course for teacher feedback. This is part 2 of the beginner coding class I offer for Ages 7-10. This class continues introducing students to basic coding vocabulary and techniques. Students should take part 1 of this class first as it builds on what students learned in the previous beginner class and it assumes they have a working knowledge of the Kodu program. ------------------------------------- If you loved creating games with the Kodu program in my video game design class, continue the fun in part 2 of the course. This class is part 2 of my popular video game design class for beginner coders. Students learn to...... --Create variables in coding to store data in their code. --Use variables to keep track of points. --Use variables to keep track of time in a game. --Code objects to spawn characters for teleporting and checkpoints. --Use pages/advanced logic to switch between player characters in the game. --Use sub-routines/nesting in their coding. --Create more complex and interesting games. Important: Kodu currently only runs on Windows. Please test running Kodu prior to signing up for the class. Kodu is a free download at https://www.kodugamelab.com/.

6 週間以上レッスン 1:
Scoring
Students learn how to use variables in coding to keep track of points in a game. They are able to add points and subtract points from the container (variable) based on events in the game. Students also learn how to trigger a win screen after a certain number of points are reached.
レッスン 2:
Timer/Survival Games
Students learn how to create a timer in their game using variables and scoring that gives the player a certain amount of time they have to survive in the game to win.
レッスン 3:
Teleporting
Students learn how to use portals they create to teleport a player from one of the part of the game to the other. This requires the use of creatables in Kodu, which are saved characters and objects that can be reused (spawned) during gameplay. Students also practice active listening as they share ideas on other ways teleporting can be used in a game.
レッスン 4:
Character Transformation
Students learn how to use advanced coding logic to switch between playable characters in a game.

I have been teaching technology, coding, and 21st century skills for nearly 15 years. I am a certified elementary teacher in PA and have a Masters Degree in Curriculum and Instruction. I also have run my own educational technology business in the past. My goal is to help kids learn the skills they need in today's world, but also help them believe they can be the creators of new technology instead of simply consuming it.
