週1時間. The homework for this spelling class is designed to reinforce the lessons learned each week. Parents receive a list of words that their children should practice at home to solidify their understanding of the spelling rules taught in class. Additionally, on some weeks, the students will receive engaging and educational materials such as games or clip cards. These activities are not just fun but also enhance the learning experience by making the practice of spelling more interactive and enjoyable. This approach helps ensure that students can continue learning effectively outside of the classroom.この文章は自動翻訳されています

Overview: This class is perfect for kids in 3rd, 4th, and 5th grades to help them get better at spelling. If you have an upper elementary speller that needs a little extra support, this class is perfect for them. How I Teach: I start each class by explaining a new spelling rule. Then, kids get to practice this rule step-by-step. First, they might fill in missing letters in words. If we have time, they’ll spell whole words and even make up sentences with those words. This way, kids really get to understand and use their new spelling skills. What We'll Learn Each Week: Week 1: Learning about syllables with words like "rabbit" and "finish." Week 2: More on syllables with words like "hero" and "menu." Week 3: Using the letter 'x' in words like "box," "expect," Week 4: The letter 'y' sounding like 'i' in words like "cry," "fry," "dry." Week 5: The letter 'y' sounding like 'e' in words like "candy," "thrifty," "bossy." Week 6: Words ending in 'ey' like "valley," "alley," "kidney," "medley." Week 7: Words starting with 'qu' like "quill," "quake," "quench," "squash," "banquet." 9/3: Words with 'ai' like "main," "train," "sprain." 9/10 Words with 'ay' like "stay," "spray," "subway," "driveway." 9/17: Words with 'tch' like "catch," "batch," "twitch," "latch. 9/24: -ind, -ild, old, ost (wildfire, postman, child, behind) 10/1 - ink, ank, unk, onk (sink, think, honk, blank, clunk) 10/8 - ing, ang, ong, ung, (sing, thing, song, sung, stong) 10/15 - ar (army, garden, garment, armchair, parkway, partner) 10/22 - er (perspire, sticker, perfect) 10/29 - ir (squirm, confirm, birthday, skirmish) Extra Fun Stuff: Every week, we give kids a list of words to practice at home. Sometimes, we also give them fun games or activities like clip cards to make spelling even more fun. These extras aren’t every week, but they add a nice surprise now and then. Why This Class Is Great: Kids will not only get better at spelling, but they’ll also have fun and feel good about learning. The way I teach helps kids understand spelling rules through games and activities that make sense to them. By the end of the class, they’ll be ready to tackle harder words and feel confident in their spelling skills.
学習到達目標
The goal of the class is to help 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grade students improve their spelling skills. My approach focuses on teaching spelling in a way that is direct, multisensory, and structured, making it easier for students, especially those who might struggle with traditional methods. By engaging students with interactive lessons and practical exercises, the class aims to build their confidence in spelling and lay a strong foundation for their literacy skills.

Hi, I'm Rachel Capes! 🌟
I have an Early Childhood Degree and a Master's in Literacy. I spent 12 amazing years teaching 4th and 5th graders, and Kindergarten SPED in public schools. I even got to be a math and literacy coach!
Now, I homeschool my four wonderful kids. One is gifted, two are right where they should be, and one has a learning disability. This time at home has given me a deeper understanding of all learning styles.
I believe learning should be hands-on and fun! Kids should be excited about math and reading.
In math, we use manipulatives, drawing, and algorithms to make learning engaging. When we meet more than once, kids get to share how they solved problems and explain their thinking.
In reading, we dive into books, discuss vocabulary, explore literary elements, analyze characters and plots, and make predictions. Everyone gets to share their thoughts and opinions while respecting others'.
I love to read, be outdoors with my kids, and this year we're learning to garden together. 🌱
I also teach World History and Geography at an accredited homeschool group.
Let's make learning an adventure! 🎉📚✨
