In this self paced class we will explore ancient buried cities. I will provide engaging video lectures for each lesson. The lectures will discuss the history of how each site was found, what we have learned through the study of each site, what archaeologists believe about how the people of each civilization lived and what the future holds for each site.

Going along with the lectures, students can participate in class projects, web based games and reading material. Class projects can be turned in either in the classroom or via private message.

Lesson : Basics of the archaeological process and what defines an "age" (Stone Age, Neolithic, etc). We will also get a wide angle view geographical location of where sites are located that will be covered in this class. ***This first class lecture will be 30 minutes long. The remaining four classes will be one hour long.

Lesson 2: Çatalhöyük in Turkey 7200BC - 5800BC

Lesson 3: Stonehenge in England 3200BC - 1650BC

Lesson 4: Skara Brae in Scotland 3100BC - 2500BC

Lesson 5: Troy in Turkey 2500BC - 1400BC

Throughout the class students will gain a deeper understanding of the science of archaeology and how it works. For example; What evidence tells us how many people lived in ancient civilizations? What evidence tells us what animals were domesticated?

There will also be optional additional materials & projects available, giving students the opportunity to go deeper into the topics presented. These additional materials are not required by me. They are provided for students to continue their learning and follow their passions. Some materials will be more geared towards those on the younger end of the age range and other materials will be geared towards those on the older end. If some material is too difficult for your learner, that is ok. They are not required to engage in that activity.

I am a lover of history, the more obscure the better. This class explores ancient ruins that are not widely known about. Little known locations fascinate me and I am excited to share my passion for history with those that engage with me.
