This course covers why we use them, what the map symbols are used for, and hands-on practice identifying features on a real topographic map. As a geologist, I have used topographic maps in my field experience and work-related activities on a regular basis. Many of my personal hobbies are reliant on understanding how to read topographic maps.
I will provide a topographic map to be printed. Each learner should have some colored pencils and a magnifying glass or some way to look closely at those hard to see areas on the map.
